Exter for Aelita leads one
to believe that Martian
women have three breasts,
a detail that seems to have
escaped most of the specialists.
The film begins with the same
characters as Alexei Tolstoy:
a slightly mad scientist, a
brave soldier full of popular
wisdom, an unimaginably
beautiful martian. But in the
USSR in 1924 a princess could
only be a class enemy, and
so Aelita betrays her visitors
from space by unleashing her
praetorian guard on the
slaves won over, via the
brave soldier, to the ideals
of 1917.
