By always preferring women, I’m no doubt unjust toward men. But it’s
your fault, boys, after all. You were too much, you were everywhere. At
the high school, in the army, in prison, in all the trades I’ve gone through,
you were always there, everything was yours, with your swollen egos, your
unfinished faces and your puerile power-plays. And it was in the form of
little Sunday girls, students in the Secondary Course, AFATs and WACs,
visitors and passers-by that I rejoined with relief the other species, the
one I had discovered in my school days, that other race: it had a soft skin,
a voice like music, and except for cats there was nothing finer to look at…
