A curious encounter between the Imaginary
Museum and the real one (in this case, the Louvre)
took place at the Carnival of Camajuani in Cuba in
1965, when the Chivos group took its inspiration
from the French national catalogue. Delacroix's
Death of Sardanapalus seems to have particularly
appealed to the imagination of the Cuban artisans,
who used it for one of their floats peopled with
plaster figurines.
