"Well, I'm afraid it's not a Botticelli.
But my species has been of such scant
inspiration to Western painting that I'd
like to render homage to Paul Chabas
, the little-known author of Gerda the
Seal-Fairy -thus illustrating the healthy
principle of non-competition also professed
by the author of this disc. Of course I could
have invoked Eskimo art, which has always
given us the place we deserve, particularly
the Inuit sculptor Kudloo Angootikjuak,
whose Man Dreaming of a Seal is a unique
work: the only sculpture in all of history
that has dared to portray a dream."
