And I thought of the Chants of the Dead in the Rumanian folk
tradition, where it’s also a question of pathways and meetings,
where unlike the Christian tribunal -a bit ridiculous like all
tribunals- the way to the other world is first of all a journey.
These are peoples who know what traveling is, who know you
needn’t justify yourself or make excuses for your life: just go on
ahead, hold out to the end of the road, and the other world
will be yours.
